The Waverly Hills Sanatorium in Louisville, Kentucky was a center to treat tuberculosis patients in the early 20th century. It was closed and reopened several times before it finally shut down completely in 1980 as “Woodhaven Medical Services” Thousands of patients died in the Sanatorium during a Tuberculosis epidemic that was present in the region and as a result, many legends and stories are told by the locals today of it’s haunting.
One of the more famous legends involve a nurse who hung herself in Room 502. She was pregnant and unmarried and decided to take her life. It is said that the nurse haunts 502 and many strange occurrences are reported in the room.
The Waverly Hills Sanatorium is home to an abundance of paranormal activity and is considered one of the most haunted places on earth. It has been investigated by many Paranormal Investigators, including The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS) who featured the Sanatorium on two episodes of Ghost Hunters.
